Pass By: Puma Punku, Municipalita di Tiahuanaco, Tiwanaku Bolivia
Puma Punku, also called "Pumapunku" or "Puma Puncu", is part of the Tiahuanaco monumental complex near the town of Tiwanaku in the Department of La Paz, Bolivia. It is located southwest of the Kalasasaya Temple. In Aymara, its name means, "The Door of the Puma."
Some believe that Puma Punku could not have been built without the help of extraterrestrial beings.
Puma Punku was a terraced mound of earth originally faced with megalithic blocks, each weighing several tens of tons. The red sandstone and andesite stones were cut into geometric shapes that fit perfectly together without using mortar.
