The Laguna de los Pozuelos Natural Monument is located in the northwest of the province of Jujuy. It has 16,224 hectares belonging to the Puna ecoregion.
This Natural Monument, created in 1981 and is 3,600 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountain ranges.

Flora and Fauna
Fauna: This lagoon concentrates a rich and varied aquatic avifauna, which includes some 44 species, reason for the creation of the Natural Monument. Its most striking members are flamencos, gallaretas and ducks.

Climate
Very arid and cold, in summer, the temperature exceeds 30º C, in winter it can reach -20º C, with frosts and sporadic snowfalls. The few rains occur in the summer season.

How to get to the Laguna de los Pozuelos Natural Monument
By car: From San Salvador de Jujuy, by RN 9 to Abra Pampa - where the protected area office is -, RP 7 to the ranger s house and an internal path of 7 km to the lagoon.
