This excursion proposes to go up the Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer) by train through the Floresta de Tijuca, a place of exuberant beauty. Passengers are driven from their hotels to Corcovado Station, where the train tour begins.
The statue of the Christ with its outstretched arms is an emblem of Rio de Janeiro, it was built by Hector da Silva Costa with the collaboration of Paul Landowsky, between 1926 and 1931. The Christ is one of the most visited and visible sites in the city. The base of the Christ has a series of concrete platforms at different heights that culminate at the foot of the monument. The ascents between platforms are by stairs, from which the different panoramic points of the city begin to be perceived. On the different platforms that are found during the ascent there is an information center, souvenir shops, toilets and bars where you can eat and drink at moderate prices.
During the climb, you can see, first of all, the southern sector of Rio de Janeiro, with the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon, the Jardin Botanico, the Jockey Club and a large part of the Tijuca Park. As we continue our journey north, Copacabana, Botafogo, Flamengo, the Guanabara Bay and the Sugar Loaf appear. From the front of the Christ, about 710 meters above sea level, the center of Rio, Guanabara Bay and Niteori can be seen. To the west, the Maracana Stadium and a part of the Tijuca Park appear.
