The jaguar is the only one of the five species of the Panthera genus found in America. It is also the largest feline in America and the third largest in the world, after the tiger and the lion.

It is a robust and muscular animal that presents significant variations in size, with a weight that normally ranges between 56 and 96 kilograms, although there are records of larger males, up to 158 kg
The females reach sexual maturity approximately between 12 and 24 months of age and males between 24 and 36 months.

Like most felids, it is a solitary animal (except for the mother-pup group). Usually adults are only found for courtship and mating
