The Municipal Museum of Fine Arts is located, since 1971, performed on Baburizza Palace, a beautiful art nouveau building dating from 1916 and previously owned by entrepreneur Pascual Baurizza nitrate. Originally, the building was built by architects Renato Schiavon and Arnaldo Barison magnate commissioned by Ottorino Zanelli.

While currently in the process of restoration, the museum has major collections of European and Chilean painting of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, among which the French Rousseau, Boudin, Henry, the Dutchman Jengkine. In a room devoted especially to Valparaiso highlight works of German and English John Rugendas Somerscales Thomas, who painted the port issues. Among the national artists are creations of Pedro Lira, Juan Francisco Gonzalez, Cosme San Martin and Valenzuela Puelma, among others.


Palace Baburizza
This beautiful art nouveau style mansion built and 2,100 meters, was built in 1916 in one of the sides of Cerro Alegre. Pascual Baburizza, nitrate and philanthropist, bought it, designing the walk Yugoslav immediately flanking that.

Is currently under restoration period, housing for more than forty years the Museum of Fine Arts, Valparaiso, with works by Juan Francisco Gonzalez, Alfredo Helsby, Thomas Sommerscales and others.
