Alacran Island and Forts. Arica - CHILE

Both were declared National Monument in 1985.

It is located southwest of Arica, in front of the Morro de Arica.
Island artificially linked to the continent in 1965. With an area of 49,369 m2.

The location indicates that the constructions of the former island date from the 19th century, it was an unfinished project and that its occupation as a military garrison would be a short-lived republican work.

Currently the Yacht Club operates and in the evenings it is a youth meeting center.
