Located in the Historic District of
Iquique at the roundabout to access port, was built in 1871 with the aim of fulfilling the role of customs and Peruvian government office called Provincial Prefecture of Tarapaca. The two-story building was built in classic colonial style with striking neoclassical influence. Through it, you can access the Naval Museum.
Since 1920, meets only administrative functions of storage in warehouses. Its base is rectangular, two stories, with an inner courtyard surrounded by corridors on two levels. The building is crowned by an octagonal lookout plaster partition. In the northern and eastern sides are large warehouses built with Douglas fir beams.
In 1971 he was declared a National Monument.
